M & M ASSIGNMENT

  1. Open Microsoft Excel
  2. Save Excel document as (yourname) M&M in your Excel folder
  3. Set up page to be portrait, with .25 margins.
  4. Enter a Heading in cell A1 that says “What you get with M&Ms”.
  5. Chose a cool font for your title in WordArt and increase font size to 26 point font.
  6. In cell A4 type column heading “M&M color” and in cell B4 type column heading
  7. “# of M&Ms in bag”.
  8. Adjust your column width so that the entire heading fits within the cell.
  9. Below the column heading “M&M color” list the colors that are in the plain M&M bag.
  10. Below the column heading “#0f M&Ms in bag” then key the number of each color that was in the bag. Yes, you will need to count how many of each color are in the bag and report it on your Excel spreadsheet.
  11. Add the word “Total” in column A immediately below the last row of data
  12. Use the SUM function to add the total # of M&Ms in column B in the last row below the data (to the right of Total)
  13. Center the data in the cells below your column headings. (This is you need to center the colors and the number of each color within their cell).
  14. Format your column headings to increase their font size to 14 points, bold, and center. This may require you to readjust your column width so that the entire heading fits in its cell. Enter a thick box border around the column headings.
  15. For each M&M color listed, create a rule in Conditional Formatting to turn the color of background to match the color of the M&M
  16. Create a rule in Conditional Formatting in Column B range of data to add a light green background color with dark green text for all colors that are greater than 2 of the same color
  17. Insert inside and outside borders around the data in cells A5 to B9 (or last cell of list).
  18. Highlight cells A4 through B9 (or last cell in list and insert a 3D Clustered Column Chart.
  19. Right click on the column above the word red and choose format data point from the short cut menu.
  20. Select fill and choose a color for each column that represents the color of the M&M.
  21. Adjust the transparency of each column to 25%.
  22. Follow instructions 14 through 18 for each color column in the chart.
  23. Right click on chart background – format chart area to add a gradient fill color, & a thick round border of your choice of color.
  24. Add a legend to the chart
  25. Move the column chart to its own sheet tab and name it “Column Chart” and color the sheet tab red
  26. In Sheet 1, Highlight cells A4 – B8
  27. Insert a 3-D Pie Chart
  28. Select each pie slice and change the fill color to the color that represents the M&M
  29. Add a legend if there isn’t one showing
  30. Select the pie slice with the most M&M’s of that color and separate or explode that slice from the rest of the pie chart
  31. Move the pie chart to its own sheet tab and name it “Pie Chart” and color the sheet tab green
  32. Rename sheet 1 “Data” and color the sheet tab blue
  33. Merge and center Heading in cell A1 in the Data sheet tab across columns A through F
  34. Below your chart in the chart tab, type the words “Did YOU Know…” and then type your interesting fact that you learned on the M&M website in instruction #1.
  35. Format your “Did You Know” fact to increase the font size to at least 13 point font and to fit on the page.
  36. Save Excel document as (yourname) M&M in your BCIS/Excel folder and turn into Bb.
